The history of our saviors
The original Our Savior's Baptist Church was started in late 1967 by the late Reverend Theodore Brown, Sr. who served faithfully as its first pastor with his wife Zada Belle Brown by his side as the First lady of the church. The church's first location was actually a house located at 1713 Gillette Street. From there, the church ( around 1969) relocated to East 15th and Des Moines Street where it prospered for a number of years. In 1981 the church disbanded due to health problems the late Reverend Theodore Brown was then experiencing. Since that time the church remained "dormant."
But, glory to God, the church was "resurrected" on February 26, 1994 when it was reorganized and established as the "Our Savior's Full Gospel" Missionary Baptist Church."
The Iowa Missionary Baptist President, Reverend Sherman L., organized the church. Brown and the State Overseer of the Full Gospel Baptist Church Fellowship, Elder Dr. E. Lafrance Dillard.
Elder Isaiah A. Brown, Sr. was then called as the Pastor by the " charter" members of what had previously been a " mission".
During its first year of reestablishment, the church was blessed to share the St. John's church facilities (located at 2528 Maury Street)
